Bernice Marie Mac Donald, age 89, formerly of Neshkoro, died peacefully on Monday, April 25, 2011 at the Markesan Resident Home where she has resided since being diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease.
Bernice was born January 31, 1922 in Markesan, the daughter of Erwin and Clara Meinke Schwandt. On September 15, 1945 she was united in marriage to Malcolm “Mac” Mac Donald.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Malcolm “Mac” Mac Donald; two daughters Susan (Charles) Wallschlaeger and Sally (Gary) Kenton, all of Green Lake; four grandchildren Nadene (Ronald) Kasuboski of Ripon, Laura (Lt. Col Steven) Smith of Huntingtown, MD, Corey (Jill) Wallschlaeger of West Bend, and Andrew (Stephanie) Wallschlaeger of Coon Rapids, MN; nine great-grandchildren Joe, Dan, DaVene, and Kendra Kasuboski all of Ripon, Madeline and Nicholas Smith of Huntingtown, MD, Mason Wallschlaeger of West Bend, and Addison and Reagan Wallschlaeger of Coon Rapids, MN.; one brother Roland Schwandt of Ripon; one sister Betty (Carleton) Ruenger of Ripon; nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Bernice’s life was held on Saturday, May 7 at 11:00 a.m. at Zion United Methodist Church in Neshkoro, with Rev. Aaron Alfred officiating. Inurnment was in Zion United Methodist Cemetery in Neshkoro. Memorials may be given to the church or the “Wounded Warriors Ministry Center” at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany. Arrangements have been entrusted to Barbola Funeral Chapel in Berlin.
