Egorda Mae Kolpin, age 83 of Berlin, died peacefully, under Hospice care, on Sunday, December 11, 2011 at Patriot Place.
Egorda was born December 7, 1928 in Moorehead, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Martin and Eleanor Finch Arneson. After moving to Berlin in the early 1940’s, Egorda worked as a waitress at Art Thoma’s Super Ice Cream Shop. On April 22, 1950 she was united in marriage to Eugene Kolpin. She & her husband owned and operated Gene’s 49er Bar and Restaurant in Berlin. Egorda also worked at Good Drug Store and was a Nursing Assistant at Berlin Memorial Hospital.
During retirement, Gene and Egorda enjoyed many winters in Brooksville, Florida. She
was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aid. Over the years, Egorda
was a great friend to many and was blessed with wonderful care-givers the last several
years. She will be dearly missed by her family and all who were fortunate enough to know
her.
Egorda is survived by her son, Gary (Connie) Kolpin of Madison; grandchildren, Carmen
(Dennis) McDonnell and Shannon (Ryan) Richards; great-grandchildren, Maren, Ramsey,
Rudy, and Ryder; one brother, David (Mona) Arneson of Madison and their children, Jeff,
Julie, Gary, James, and Monica; and their grandchildren, Hailey, Emily, Tiffany, Tara, Tyler,
Amy, Ashley, Brett, and Miya; and several nephews, nieces, and brothers-in-law. She was
preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Eugene on July 12, 1992; and four sisters,
JoAnn, Marlene, Eleanor, and Kathryn.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, December 16 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran
Church (Fairburn), the Rev. Gregory Sluke officiating. Interment will be in St. Paul Lutheran
Cemetery in the Town of Seneca. The family will receive friends and relatives on Thursday,
December 15 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Barbola Funeral Chapel and Friday, one
hour prior to the time of services at the church. Arrangements have been entrusted to Barbola
Funeral Chapel.
