Mae Emily Degener, age 90, of Berlin, died peacefully on Friday, August 17, 2012 at Markesan Resident Home, where she has resided the past few months.
She was born July 22, 1922 in Green Lake, the daughter of Charles and Nina Douglas Pamenter. She was a graduate of Green Lake High School, and attended Green Lake County Normal School. On January 30, 1944, Mae was united in marriage to Ervin L. Degener. The Degeners lived in West Bend until 1961, when they moved to Berlin. She worked at Green Giant Canning Co in Ripon, and Realist in Berlin before her retirement. Mae was a member of the United Methodist church in Berlin.
She loved spending time taking and caring for her grandchildren, baking, cooking, and
having time with the family pets.
She is survived by two sons, David Degener of Berlin and Dean (Karen) Degener of
Cantrall, IL and Neshkoro, WI; a daughter, Darlene Degener of Ft. Wayne, IN; her
grandchildren, Jeffrey Degener of Berlin and Laura (Ryan) Birschbach of Berlin; a
step-grandson, Chris Entwistle; two great-granddaughters, Bristel and Haeden Entwistle;
her two brothers, Clayton (Donna) Pamenter of Ripon and Robert Pamenter of Green Lake;
a sister-in-law, Marjorie Pamenter of Ripon; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in
death by her husband, Ervin on Nov. 26, 2006; her parents; a brother, Charles Pamenter
Jr.; and a sister-in-law, Eunice Pamenter.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Barbola
Funeral Chapel, the Rev. Aaron Alfred officiating. Interment will be in Weiser Cemetery in
the Town of Princeton. Friends and relatives may call at the funeral chapel on Wednesday
from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service.
