Marilee Florence Cate Moerschel, age 77, formerly of Auroraville, died Saturday, September 14, 2013 at Ebenezer Ridges Care Center in Burnsville, MN.
She was born January 17, 1936 in Auroraville, Waushara County, WI, the daughter of Chester and Blanche Radliff Cate. She attended Auroraville Grade School, was a 1953 graduate of Berlin High School, and a 1957 graduate of University of Wisconsin-Stout. On May 4, 1957, she was united in marriage to Henry G. “Hank” Moerschel of Wauwatosa, WI.
they were teachers for the mentally handicapped in a California State Hospital. In addition to being
a homemaker and mother, she was a newspaper reporter in the 1970s, an office worker, and a
salesperson for Sears for over ten years. She was a poet and enjoyed being an antique dealer too.
Marilee served on several committees in the Burnsville area with the Jr. Chamber of Commerce and
1 year as Chair of the City Planning Commission. She was a member of River Hills United Methodist
Church in Burnsville, MN. She sang in the choir and participated as a Steven’s Minister. Marilee and
her husband enjoyed an active retirement in Ft. Meyers, FL.
She is survived by her two sons, Jonathan Moerschel of Burnsville, MN and Christopher (Paula)
Moerschel of Elk Grove Village, IL; grandchildren, Angela, Joseph, Laura, and Steven; her brother,
John (Carol) Cate of Ripon; a sister-in-law, Jo Marie (Ray) Paul of Rockford, IL; and nieces and
nephews, Jody (Mike) Warren and Laurie (Mike) Kelly. She was preceded in death by her husband
on January 24, 2006; her parents; and her step-mother, Laura Cate.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 19, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Barbola Funeral Chapel
in Berlin, the Rev. JoAnn Schoblaski officiating. Interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery. Friends
and relatives may call on Wednesday, September 18 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Barbola Funeral
