He was born April 14, 1920 in Richford, WI, the son of Edward and Adeline Weiland Meyer.

Herb served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1940-1946. He was a Pearl Harbor survivor,

being aboard the U.S. Oklahoma on Dec. 7, 1941. Herb gave talks to Mr. Knoke’s classes

at Berlin High School about his experiences. He received the Purple Heart Medal for his

service to our country. Herb was able to take the WWII Honor Flight to Washington, D.C.,

and the Pearl Harbor Honor Flight to Hawaii.

On November 21, 1942, Herb was united in marriage to Dena A. Draeger. They raised a family and

farmed in the Town of Berlin until they retired in 1978. Dena preceded him in death on September

11, 1993. On May 21, 1994, he was united in marriage to Darlene E. Bahr.

In his lifetime, Herb enjoyed reading, jig saw puzzles, golf, cards, and square dancing. He was a

faithful member of Grace English Lutheran Church in Berlin.

Herb is survived by his wife, Darlene; two daughters, Gerene (Rich) Bartol and Emily (Gene) Bartzen;

one son, Ralph (Becki) Meyer; step-children, Shirley (Roy) Williams and Richard Bahr; 20

grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dena; daughter,

Judith Trochinski; son-in-law, Ron Jezwinski; and by his ten brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 26 at 11:00 a.m. at Grace English Lutheran Church

in Berlin, the Rev. Scott T. Piper officiating. Entombment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park in

Neenah. Friends and relatives may call at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services on

Friday. Arrangements have been entrusted to Barbola Funeral Chapel. Memorials may be given to

Heffer International, Berlin Food Pantry or Agnesian Hospice Hope. Online condolences may be
