Carl James Hanson, age 62, of Berlin, died peacefully on Monday, May 13, 2013 following a courageous battle with melanoma.
Carl was born February 22, 1951 in Berlin, the son of Harlan Hanson and Frances Snell Doll. He was
a 1969 graduate of Beloit Memorial High School. On September 19, 1970, he was united in marriage to Pat Jannusch at Grace Lutheran Church in Berlin.
He worked as a Machinist at Kingsbury Inc. in Oshkosh for 34 years, retiring in 2009. Carl was a member of Berlin Conservation Club, Whitetails Unlimited, and Grace Lutheran Church in Berlin. He
enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Carl is survived by his wife, Pat; a daughter, Kelly (Scott) Zabel of Berlin; and two grandchildren,
Tanner and Mercedes Zabel; his brothers and sisters, Harlan E. (Paula) Hanson, Beverly Hanson,
Brenda (Paul) Barber, Sylvan “Buddy” (Patty) Doll Jr., Jody (Daniel) Andrade, and Michael (Elizabeth)
Doll; nieces and nephews; and his two faithful canine companions, Wilma, and Winston. He was
preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Marlin Hanson; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law,
Russell and Lennie Jannusch.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 17, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in
Berlin, the Rev. Scott Piper officiating. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Thursday,
May 16 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Barbola Funeral Chapel and also at the church one hour prior
to the service. Inurnment will be in Oakwood Cemetery. Memorials may be given to Grace Lutheran
Church or Tri Casa Animal Shelter. Arrangements have been entrusted to Barbola Funeral Chapel.
