Phyllis Elaine Franz, age 89, died peacefully on Monday, June 16, 2014 at Century Ridge in Chilton.
She was born February 6, 1925 in Berlin, the daughter of George and Ella Randall Coulson. Phyllis
was a 1942 graduate of Berlin High School and graduated from Fox Valley Technical College in 1968.
On June 15, 1946, she was united in marriage to George Russell and on November 1, 1967 she was
united in marriage to Norbert Franz.
Phyllis worked as office and bookkeeper at Walker Insurance, Miracle Printing, the Berlin Journal
and Green Lake County Public Health. After moving to Oshkosh, she worked as Office Manager at
the YMCA. She also worked at Stockbridge Elementary School in the reading program and retired
in 1987 as a Technician for Calumet County Public Health. Phyllis and Norb later moved to Chilton
and became a member of Chilton Ebenezer United Church of Christ. She enjoyed swimming and was
active in several bridge clubs, including teaching bridge for many years. Her happiest times were
spent with family and friends.
She is survived by her son, Dennis (Carmen) Russell; grandsons, Timothy Russell (Maggie), Joe
(Dianne) Russell and Brian Russell; great-grandsons, Tony Glacia, Alan James Russell and Cole
Russell; and great-granddaughters, Emily (Dillion) Pingel, Cassie Russell and Nicole Russell; great-
great-grandchildren, Kylie and Jerry; step daughter, Sharon (Richard) Fortnum; step grandchildren,
Chris (Robin) Franz, Jon (Kati) Franz, Richard (Kelly) Fortnum, Scott Fortnum, Brett (Stephanie)
Buchholtz, Austin Buchholtz, and Jesse (Beth) Buchholtz; step great-grandchildren, Gunner Franz,
Warner Franz, Hunter Fortnum, Jake Fortnum and Max Fortnum; and brother-in-law, Tony (Kimberly)
Kryzaniak. She leaves behind many special nieces, nephews, neighbors and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, George Russell and Norbert Franz; sons, Richard
Russell and Alan Russell; grandson, Cory Russell; parents; brothers, Randall (Doris) Coulson and
Erwin (Jean) Coulson; two sisters, Mary Coulson and Carol Kryzaniak; sister-in-law, Madaline Russell;
step son, Clark (Linda) Franz; step daughter, Marcy Buchholtz; and step grandson, Tim Franz.
A memorial service will be held on August 2, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Ebenezer United Church of Christ
in Chilton. Inurnment will be in Oakwood Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Barbola
