David W. “Gus” Evans, age 54, formerly of Berlin and Appleton, died peacefully on Friday, July 18, 2014 in Phoenix, AZ with his loving family at his side.
He was born August 31, 1959, in Berlin, the son of Alfred Leroy and Beverly Missall Evans. He graduated from Berlin High School in 1977 and from Moraine Park Technical College in 1979 with an Associate Degree in Accounting. On November 7, 1981, he was united in marriage to Joyce Baker in Berlin.
While living in Berlin, Dave worked for Erwin and Steven Coulson of Tri-County Tax Service. In 1983, he started working at Rollie Winter and Associates in Appleton as an Accountant.
Dave became a Certified Residential Appraiser through Fox Valley Technical College in 1996.
In 2006, he moved to Phoenix, AZ where he continued working as a Residential Appraiser until the
time of his death. He was a member of Mountain Park Community Church in Phoenix, AZ. Gus was
an avid Brewer and Packer fan. He played in many fast pitch, basketball and bowling leagues while
living in Berlin and Appleton. He enjoyed golfing in his spare time.
Dave is survived by his wife of 32 years, Joyce, of Phoenix, AZ; one son, Brad Evans, of Scottsdale,
AZ; one stepson, Stewart Schumacher, of Oshkosh; one stepdaughter, Robyn (Jeremy) Hardy, of
Colorado Springs, CO; five grandchildren, Alexander Evans, Louis and Lily Schumacher, and Tyler and
Mackenzie Hardy; his mother, Beverly Evans, of Berlin; one sister, Debbie (Rod) Krause, of Berlin;
two brothers, Mike (Betty) Evans, of Omro and Mark (Rosalyn) Evans, of Berlin; his father-in-law,
Dan Baker; two sisters-in-law, Sue (Kevin) Brown, of Ripon and Wanda (Dan) McMahon, of Phoenix,
AZ; two godchildren, Sara (Carl) Wierer and Vincent Evans; along with nieces, nephews, aunts,
uncles, cousins and many special friends, including his “boys”, Ozzie and Oliver.
He was preceded in death by his father, Alfred Leroy Evans, on May 17, 2014; grandparents, Alfred
(Amy) Evans and Walter (Clara) Missall; mother-in-law, Alice, sister-in-law, Karen Baker, and several
aunts, uncles and cousins.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2014, at 12:00 p.m. at Faith Community
Church in Berlin, the Rev. Terry Reiser officiating. Inurnment will be in Welsh Cemetery beside his
father. Friends and relatives may call on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the
church. Arrangements have been entrusted to Barbola Funeral Chapel of Berlin. A memorial has
