Betty (Elizabeth) Werch, age 89, formerly of Berlin, died peacefully at her home in Florida on Friday, May 20, 2011.

She was born February 1, 1922 in Racine, WI, the daughter of Nicholas and Julia Latuski  Zeleske.  Betty was a 1940 graduate of Berlin High School.  On July 15, 1942, she was united in marriage to Burton Werch.  She and her husband lived in Berlin for many years where they raised their family.  Betty’s family was her life and she cherished spending time with them.  She has resided in Florida for the past 20 years.

Betty is survived by her son Burton (Sherry) Werch of Berlin; a grandson Doug (Wendy) Werch of Berlin; granddaughter Amy (Dan) Smet of Wausau; three great-grandchildren Abigail, Bryce, and Lauren Werch; and a brother Frances Zeleske of N.C.  She was preceded in death by her husband on Oct. 24, 2003; by her parents; and seven siblings.

 

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, May 25 at 7:00 p.m.at Barbola Funeral Chapel in Berlin, the Rev. Harley Olson officiating.  Interment was in Nepeuskun Cemetery.
