Wilbert W. Wallner

Wilbert W. Wallner, age 89, of Berlin, died peacefully on Friday, January 7, 2011 at Juliette Manor in Berlin.

 

Wilbert was born January 21, 1921 in Marguette County, WI, the son of Christ and Martha Preuss Wallner.  He was a graduate of Pelican Rapids High School in MN.  On June 8, 1947, he was united in marriage to Doris Pollert in ND.

 

He was raised in ND and moved to WI in 1954.  Wilbert was a farmer in the Montello area and then a machinist for 19 years at McQuay Perfex in the Fab Division where he retired in May 1983.  Wilbert’s favorite hobby was fishing.

 

Wilbert served his country in WWII in the US Army Air Corps.  He was stationed in the European Theater, serving in North Africa and Italy.

 

He was a member of Faith Community Church in Berlin and a member of Occonner-Chiers Post #340 American Legion.

 

Wilbert is survived by his wife, Doris of 63 years; a son Harvey (Dorothy) Wallner of Kimberly; a daughter, Connie (Rich) Strebelinski of Berlin; four grandchildren, MSGT Michael (Kris) Wallner of Ewa Beach, HI, Travis (Cyrina) Talbott of Hancock, Tracey (Paul) Soenksen of Wautoma, and Jesse (Renee) Strebelinski of Denver, CO; eight great-grandchildren, Kylie, Faith, Sydney, Mattie, Lexi, Laurel, Titus, and Coraline; a brother, Kenneth Wallner of Enderlin, ND; and three sisters, Doris Asplund of Enderlin, ND, Vivian (Merlin) Skramstad of AZ, and Vonnie (Gary) Cowden of MN.

 

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, January 12 at 11:00 a.m. at Faith Community Church in Berlin, the Rev. Terry Reiser officiating.  Inurnment was in Oakwood Cemetery in Berlin.
