Melvin P. Pederson Jr.


    Melvin P. Pederson Jr., age 82, of Berlin, died peacefully on Saturday, December 1, 2012 at Patriot
    Place in Berlin.

     

    Mel was born December 28, 1929 in Granite Falls, MN, the son of Melvin and Anna "Olive" Hustad
    Pederson. After graduating from of Echo High School, Mel served in the U.S. Army from 1947-1949.
    He attended St. Olaf College, and was a graduate of the University of Minnesota. He moved to
    Milwaukee and worked for Arthur Young where he met Mary Willmore. They were united in marriage
    on June 18, 1960.

     

    The Pedersons moved to Berlin in 1965 and Melvin became a controller at McQuay-Perfex in Berlin,
    where he worked until his retirement. He was an active member of Grace English Lutheran Church.

     

    He is survived by three sons, Mike (Lynn) Pederson of Minneapolis, MN, Paul (Sara) Pederson of
    McKinney, TX; James (Brenda) Pederson of Dearborn, MI, and a daughter, Ann (Lance) Scott of
    Fox Point, WI; eleven grandchildren, Christian and Katherine Pederson, Amelia, Jane, Emma, and
    Nicholas Scott, Nicole, Alexa, and Matthew Pederson, Wesley and William Pederson; and a sister,
    Margaret Dybsand of Maynard, MN; He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary on October 29,
    2009; seven brothers and sisters, Adeline, Carolyn, Arnold, James, Beverly, Richard, and Irvin.

     

    Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 11, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Grace English
    Lutheran Church in Berlin, the Rev. Scott Piper officiating. Inurnment will be in Oakwood Cemetery.
    Friends and relatives may call on Monday, December 10, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Barbola
    Funeral Chapel and at the church on Tuesday one hour prior to the service. The family requests

    donations be made to agnesian Hospice Hope or the American Lung Association.
