Catherine Marie "Mary" Paulsen

Catherine Marie “Mary” Paulsen, age 90, of the Town of Aurora, died peacefully on Saturday, February 5, 2011 at her home surrounded by her family.

 

She was born August 6, 1920 in the Town of Aurora in Waushara County, WI, the daughter of John R. and Addie Evans Kettlewell.  She attended Spoor School and was a 1938 graduate of Berlin High School.  On June 14, 1941, she was united in marriage to the love of her life, Glenn Harley Paulsen.  He preceded her in death on October 30, 1999 after 58 years of marriage.

 

Following their marriage, they farmed on the family farm in the Town of Aurora.  She loved to travel, play cards, bird watch, grow flowers and do gardening.  Mary served on the Town of Aurora Election Board for many years.  She was an active member of the Federated Church of Berlin.  She was a past member of Maple Chapter Order of Eastern Star, and the Jolly Janes Homemaker Club.  Glenn and Mary enjoyed many summers of boating and traveling in the winter with friends Lyle and Mary Ellen Young.  Her family was the center of her life and she enjoyed being a homemaker, Mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.  Mary enjoyed the outings with the “Red Hat Society” and visits with her dear friends.

 

She is survived by her two sons; Terry (Lynn) Paulsen and Perry Paulsen (fiance’ Kellie Pagel), two daughters Carole (Pete) Ceman and Gail Hunt; ten grandchildren Dr. Stephanie Ceman of Champaign, IL, Steve (Deana) Ceman of Berlin, Scott (Bryn) Ceman of Oshkosh, Karen (Don) Demick of Madison, Sara (Brian) Disterhaft of Berlin, and Becky Paulsen of Janesville, Jill Hunt (fiance’ Kerry Johnson) of Middleton, and Julie Hunt of Princeton, Carissa Paulsen (fiance’ Paul Frank) of Milwaukee, and Taylor (Alyse) Paulsen of Berlin; five great-grandchildren Jeremy and Lauren Disterhaft, Rory Demick, Evan and Natalie Ceman, and a sixth great-grandchild, who will be born in April.

 

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Rumsey and David Kettlewell, infant sister Margaret Josephine Kettlewell, sister-in-law Clara Kettlewell, Helen Peterson, and LeMoyne Frank; brother-in-law Halsey Paulsen, and by Glenn’s parents Harry and Florence Paulsen.

 

Funeral Services was held on Wednesday, February 9 at 11:00 a.m. at the Federated Church in Berlin, the Rev. JoAnn Schoblaski officiating.  Interment was in Welsh Cemetery in the Town of Aurora.
