Marjorie C. Hitchcock

    Marjorie C. Hitchcock, age 93 of Berlin, formerly of Fond du Lac and Washburn, died peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday, August 31, 2011 at Patriot Place.

     

    Marjorie was born October 23, 1917 in Randolph, WI, the daughter of Edward and Emma Okrusch Waehler.  She was a 1935 graduate of Goodrich High School in Fond du lac, WI.  On August 10, 1940 she was united in marriage to Donald F. Hitchcock.  The ceremony was performed by her father-in-law, Reverend Wallace Hitchcock.

     

     

    She worked for Wisconsin Bell Telephone Co. until her marriage. 

    Later she worked for Brauers Department Store. 

     

    Marjorie was a brownie leader, den mother, and Deacon at Plymouth Congregational Church in Fond du Lac.  Upon retirement in 1975, she and her husband moved to Washburn, WI where they remained until her husband’s death in 1985.  In her later years, Marjorie spent much of her time knitting hats, mittens, and dishcloths for others, and her most treasured afghans for each of her grandchildren.  She was a member of the Berlin United Methodist Church.

     

    She is survived by her four children, Donna (Al) White of Berlin, Rick (Carol) Hitchcock of Berlin, Dale (Mary) Hitchcock of Punta Gorda, FL, and John (Lori) Hitchcock of Amherst, WI; 15 grandchildren, Jodi (Eric) Braun of Oshkosh, Becky White of Chicago, Midge (Andy) Seaman of Berlin, Melissa (Aaron) Duffy of Delafield, Shelley (John) Markve of Maple Grove, MN, Jennifer (Kent) Langfield of Lakewood, CO, Matt (Esther) Hitchcock of Englewood, CO, Michael Hitchcock of Louisville, KY, Troy (Paula) Hitchcock of Las Vegas, NV, Stephanie (Michael) Flores of Las Vegas, NV, Heidi (Brian) Marks of St. Croix Falls, Beth (Jeff) Tobak of Memphis, TN, Jessica (Jon) Munoz of Iola, Sarah (Kenneth) Karolus of Iola, and Jamie (Jim) Spencer of Amherst; 26 great-grandchildren; one brother, George Waehler of Fond du Lac; and one sister-in-law, Arline Waehler of Fond du Lac.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three brothers, Harold, Watson, and Haydon Waehler; two sisters-in-law, Betty Waehler and Rita Waehler; and one great-granddaughter, Sarah Markve.

     

    Funeral Services will be held on Friday, September 9 at 7:00 p.m. at Barbola Funeral Chapel, the Rev. Aaron Alfred officiating.  Interment will be in Woodland Cemetery in Washburn, WI.  The family will receive friends and relatives from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Barbola Funeral Chapel.  In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name may be directed to St. Agnesian Hospice Hope.  The family would like to thank the staff of Patriot Place and St. Agnesian Hospice Hope for their loving and gentle care.
