Lena Harrison

    Lena Mae Harrison, age 95, of Janesville, formerly of Poy Sippi, died peacefuly on Friday, January 20, 2012 at Cedar Crest Hospice in Janesville.

     

    She was born April 29, 1916 in Poy Sippi, WI, the daughter of Frank Frederick and Myrtle Elizabeth (Erickson) Albright. She was united in marriage to Joseph John Harrison on June 3, 1939 in Poy Sippi. Lena was a 1934 graduate of Berlin High School and graduated from Green Lake County Normal School in Berlin. Lena moved to the Janesville area in 1954. She taught at various schools including Lincoln Elementary and retired from Janesville Public Schools in 1978.

     

    Surviving are two sons: Joseph Frank (Jane) of Glenview, IL, and James (Barbara) Harrison of Middleton; two daughters Elaine (Richard) Selck of Footville, and Diane (David) Rizzardi of West Bend; eight grandchildren Brandi (Mike) Kuolt of Milton, Major Jason (Kelly) Harrison of Memphis, TN, Ryan (Ewa) Harrison of Wauconda, IL, Dr. Megan (Mike) Linn of St. Paul, MN, Sarah (Robert) Krause of Janesville, Kathy Selck of Palatine, IL, Jeffrey Harrison of McFarland, and Kimberly Harrison of Minnetonka, MN; six great-grandchildren Rachel, Joshua, and Aliya Kuolt, Damian, Emilia, and Charlie Joseph "CJ" Harrison; a brother Gary (Anna) Albright of Beltsville, MD; two sisters-in-law Evelyn Harrison of Berlin and Lois Harrison of Poy Sippi; nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

     

    Lena was preceded in death by her parents; a brother Manley Albright; a sister Vivian Stahler; sisters-in-law Frances Albright, Ruth Carey Johnson, Helen Kettlewell Peterson, Lois Carter Barry, Phyllis Schultz, and Margaret Hulse; brothers-in-law Harry Stahler, Kermit, and Russell Harrison.

     

    Funeral services will be held on Saturday, FEBRUARY 18 at 11:00 a.m. at Poy Sippi United Methodist Church, the Rev. George Groves officiating. Interment will be in Poy Sippi Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends at the church one hour prior to the service. A memorial has been established for the Poy Sippi United Methodist Church. Arrangements have been entrusted to Barbola Funeral Chapel.
