James Alfred “Doc” Paukstat

    James Alfred “Doc” Paukstat, age 64, of Berlin, died peacefully on Sunday, May 19, 2013 at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac following a four month battle with Acute Leukemia.

     

    Jim was born March 8, 1949 in Berlin, the son of Alfred John and Belva Rose Voeltner Paukstat. He was a 1968 graduate of Wautoma High School and received an Associate’s Degree in Welding from FVTC. On August 8, 1970, he was united in marriage to Geraldine June Smith at St. John Lutheran Church in Berlin.

     

    He worked at Berlin Chapman and Oshkosh Truck. Jim was an accomplished welder for both companies. He was a member and Past Steward of Local 578 U.A.W. He was an Usher and member of St. John Lutheran Church. Jim played drums with “Shades of Sound”.

    He was an avid car enthusiast, taking pride in his 1977 Mercury and loved watching cooking shows and

    Jeopardy. Jim was known for his humor and wit.

 

    Jim is survived by his daughter, Jenny Paukstat; son, Jeremy (Special friend Cayla); sister, Jeanne (Joe)

    Ross; two brothers, Jerry (Terri) Paukstat and Jeff (Charlotte) Paukstat; brothers and sistersin-law,

    Patricia (Lynn) Moderow, Paul David Smith (Sue), and Janet (Mike) Jones; niece, Amy (Bob) Van Effen;

    niece and Goddaughter, Goldie (Charles) Fischbach; and nephew, Zack Paukstat (Kaitlin). He is also

    survived by great-nieces and nephews, cousins, many special friends, and his canine companion, Heidi.

    He was preceded in death by his parents; and beloved wife, Geraldine, on October 20, 2009.

     

    Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 23, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church

    in Berlin, the Rev. Bryan G. Lundquist officiating. Inurnment will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Berlin.

    A gathering of family and friends will be held on Wednesday, May 22 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

    at Barbola Funeral Chapel in Berlin and also at the church one hour prior to the service. The family
