Fabian J. Nigbor

    Fabian J. Nigbor, age 90, of Berlin, died peacefully on Tuesday evening, July 9, 2013 at Markesan Resident Home under the care of Heartland Hospice.

     

    Fabian was born August 6, 1922 in Green Lake County, the son of Frank L. and Mary Briski Nigbor.  On September 1, 1945, he was united in marriage to Agnes Szweda at St. John Catholic Church in Princeton.  Agnes preceded him in death on July 13, 2003 after nearly 58 years of marriage. They farmed, and Fabian worked at Fairwater Canning, and also at Chapman’s in Berlin.  He worked for Goodrich Home Furnishings for 32 years. Fabian and Agnes were owners of Nigbor Camper Sales and used furniture since 1969. 

    They worked day and night together on this successful business.  Fabian finally decided to retire for good. 

    He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and going out west with his buddies, playing Sheepshead, traveling to Las Vegas

    with Agnes and also visiting the local casinos.  Fabian loved to play accordion and harmonica, and played

    them for Agnes most every night.

     

    He is survived by three daughters, Shirley Washkovick (friend Pete Nicholas) of Green Lake, Melody Pribnow,

    and Dianne Krause, both of Berlin; eight grandchildren, Brenda Washkovick (friend Jon Stellmacher) of

    Oshkosh, Amy Washkovick (friend Tim Rusch) of Omro, Jeff (Andrea) Washkovick of Green Lake, Meredith

    (Jason) Fuller of Las Vegas, NV, Nikki (Lance) Peroutka of Appleton, Kevin Pribnow of Denver, CO, Tara

    (Andy) Becker of Winneconne and Lindsey Krause (friend Joe Jurgenson) of Oshkosh; five great-grandchildren,

    Kelsey and Katie Kasten, Bianca Curtis, Joslyn Washkovick, and Landen Becker; a brother-in-law Edward

    Szweda of Ripon, many nieces and nephews.

     

    Fabian was preceded in death by his wife; a son, Eugene; nine sisters, Mamie, Annie, Clara, Josephine,

    Gertrude, Marjorie, Stella, Rose, and Helen; two brothers, Clem and Edmund; son-in-laws Leland Krause and

    Arnie Pribnow; nieces and nephews, David Neitzke Jr., Jerry Neitzke, Patty Murkley Krause, Louise “Sarge”

    Nowakowski, Clem Scheifen, Lorraine Nigbor Rhodes, and Larry Pestotnik.

     

    Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, July 13, at 11:00 a.m. at All Saints Catholic Church, the Rev.

    Phillip Krogman officiating.  Interment will be in St. Michael Catholic Cemetery.  Friends and relatives may call

    on Saturday morning from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at Barbola Funeral Chapel in Berlin.
