Jayne E. Kersten

Jayne E. Kersten, age 72, of Berlin, was called to the Lord on Sunday, September 10, 2023, at Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee, with her husband at her side.

She was born October 14, 1950, in Aurora, IL, the daughter of Richard and Margaret Spillman Frauenhoff. Jayne attended St. Paul Lutheran School and was a graduate of East Aurora High School. She received a Bachelor’s degree from Concordia College in River Forest. On August 4, 1973, she was united in marriage to Robert Kersten at St. Martin Lutheran Church in Clintonville. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this past August.

Jayne had a wonderful teaching career for over 40 years. She was active with the altar guild and LWML at church. Coaching basketball and track were true passions that she also did for many years.

She is survived by her husband, Bob; sister Jean Laver; brother, John (Coleen) Frauenhoff; sisters-in-law, Lois Kersten and Debbie Kersten; brother-in-law, David (Lydia) Kersten; and nieces and nephews, David Jr., Angela, Reverend David, Jonathan, Joel, Lucas and Carley. Jayne was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers-in-law, Bill and John.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, September 16, at 11:00 a.m., at St. John Lutheran Church in Berlin, Rev. Robert Busse officiating. Interment will be in St. Paul Cemetery in Aurora, IL. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 15, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., at St. John Lutheran Church in Berlin, and on Saturday at the church one hour prior to the services. Arrangements have been entrusted to Barbola Funeral Chapel in Berlin. Memorials may be directed to St. John School in Berlin.
