William F. Johnson

William F. “Bill” Johnson, age 68, of Borth, died peacefully on Friday, December 1, 2023, at his home, while holding the hand of his loving wife, Sharon.

Bill was a 22-year U.S. Navy veteran, serving as a Navy Corpsman with Fleet Marine Forces, including service during Vietnam and the 1991 Gulf War. Among many assignments, he participated in the evacuation of the U.S. Embassy in Saigon in April 1975, during the final days of the Vietnam debacle.

Following his military service, he worked as a paramedic in Kenosha and Waushara Counties, retiring from Waushara County EMS in 2007. For the past 16 years he was manager and sole proprietor of Responder Services LLC, a local company specializing in community defibrillator (AED) programs.

He was a loving and dedicated husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his devoted wife, Sharon; adult children, Michael, Audrey and Rebecca; step-children, Shawn (Tiffany) and Aaron; and eight grandchildren. He is further survived by sisters, Barbara and Beverly; and other extended relatives.

Bill lived life on his own terms. He served his country, loved being a paramedic and ran a thriving small business during retirement. He leaves this world grateful for so many friendships and acquaintances, and fortunate for the wealth of opportunities he’d been given in life.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, December 9, from 9:00 a.m. to noon at Barbola Funeral Chapel in Berlin.
