Roy E. Chadwick Jr.

Roy Egbert Chadwick Jr., age 92, of Berlin, died peacefully on Monday, August 14, 2023, at Eden Meadows Rehab Suites and Green House in Oshkosh.

He was born October 5, 1930, at home in Canton, Georgia, the son of Roy and Mary Lou Barnes Chadwick. Roy was a 1947 graduate of Canton High School. He served his country in the U.S. Army from 1951-1953 and also in the U.S. Air Force from 1955-1973 in Inventory Management as an E6 Tech Sergeant. Roy was drafted into the Army at Fort Jackson in Columbia, SC before being stationed in Verdun, France during the Korean Conflict. He returned home for two years and joined the Air Force, completing basic training in San Antonio, TX. From there he was stationed in Frances E. Warren AF Base in Cheyenne, Wyoming, Dyess AF Base in Abilene, TX, Vandenberg AF Base in CA, the Azores Island, Lowrey AF Base in Denver, CO, Japan, Kansas, Tan Son Nhut AF Base in Vietnam and in Turkey.

On February 14, 1964, he was united in marriage to Beverly Nummerdor at the Little White Church at Lowrey Air Force Base in Denver, Colorado. Roy always liked driving, so delivering cars for Silver Dollar Motors in Ripon was a perfect job for him. He enjoyed bowling, doing word search puzzles and was considered to be the “take her & get her” for Beverly and the “pusher & payor” at stores. He was a member of Grace English Lutheran Church in Berlin.

He is survived by his wife, Beverly; sister, Pamela Dunn; sister-in-law, Annelle “Nel” Greening; niece, Dawn (Frank) Hacker; nephew, Tim (Brandi) Greening; and great-nieces and nephews, Joel Hacker, twins, Rachael and Noah Hacker and Zoie Greening. Roy was preceded in death by his parents.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Monday, August 21, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Barbola Funeral Chapel in Berlin. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Rev. Rebekah Tarras officiating. Inurnment with military honors performed by Wells-Krause VFW Post #2925 will be in Nepeuskun Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Grace English Lutheran Church.
